End of Year ABC Countdown

It's that time of year! The school year is winding down, and we have created a fun unit to keep students learning and help them look forward to school everyday until the very end.  This has been a huge project for us and we are excited to finally be able to share it with you.  Our end of the year ABC countdown is 212 pages that help you count down the end of the year letter by letter. It includes a letter home to parents about the countdown, ideas for every letter, a sample calendar of what we do, an activity or unit for every letter, and memory books for kindergarten through third grades. You can use this as a countdown at the end of the year, or use the units and activities individually throughout the year. Head on over to our Teachers Pay Teachers store to get yours and end your school year with lots of great memories for you and your students.

Once Upon a Time . . .

Once upon a time the First Grade and Fancy Free girls accidently took a LONG break from their blog. We have no excuses and may be hanging our heads in shame. We are back now though (hopefully with no more unexplainable leaves of absence) and we have a couple new things created for you!

A Cinderella Unit that includes elements of a fairytale, compare and contrast characters, story map, opinion writing, and more!

We also have created an I can write a fairytale unit. It includes a brainstorming page for their fairytale elements, pages to help with sequencing writing and pictures, and a couple different pages for their final writing and illustrations.

Head over to our Teachers Pay Teachers store and check them out!

The Number Workbook

As much as we aren't ready to say good-bye to our summer days, it is time to prepare for a new year. This year we are tackling the Common Core Math Curriculum. YIKES!!! It looks like the concepts we taught at the end of last year are what we will be starting with this year! So we decided we better upgrade our number review workbook that we've used from past years in order to give our kiddos a bit more of a challenge. We plan on taking 5-10 minutes everyday at the beginning of our math block to do this little review/warm-up. Here are a few of the pages from our book. It does a review from 0-20.

If you would like your own copy of our new Number Workbook, head on over to our Teachers Pay Teachers store! And if you hurry, you can get it for 20% off during our back to school sale!

Ok, so, that takes care of 10 minutes of our school day, now off to plan the rest of the steps :)

Extra, Extra, Read All About It!

We have been doing newspaper day for several years.  We try and do it in the last few weeks of school for a change of pace when the kids are getting antsy.  With 16 more days of school (woohoo!) it's time to pull out the newspapers.  We're excited to have created a new newspaper packet and can't wait to use it this year.  Head on over to our Teachers Pay Teachers store and purchase yourself a copy and start a newspaper day in your classroom.
